Renate Roske-Shelton » Climate Change Summit for Fossils

I have always been fascinated by natural fossil imprints. Some of these are plentiful in certain regions where particular geological formations recorded the location of some untimely death or large scale natural catastrophe. After painting these rocks with a newly learned technique I felt compelled to think about possible fossile imprints as quiet witness to a rapid climate change that may have preceded these animal's life. The imprint of the number seven was accidental and for me symbolizes the average human memory span from a seminal scientifc paper by George Miller: 7 plus/minus 2. This painting is a call to action for better stewardship of our world in support of Danish student and climate activist Greta Thunberg.
