Renate Roske-Shelton » Solstice Bingo before the New Year

Time is rolling toward the New Year relentlessly. Like a giant Ferris wheel. What better opportunity in this challenging “in between” of old and new time, to meditate with paint on paper. While gaining several minutes of sun above the horizon (daylight) with each new day right after Winter Solstice, I enjoy imagining Moon light shining from a star-filled sky on our Back Bay landscape. The uncertainty of our current weather pattern, together with ice rain pellets sounding against the windows, falling from cloudy skies, conjure images of solar or lunar light patterns to color my imaginary world like a giant Bingo Wheel for the birds…. Turning toward 2024. There is some comfort in the imagined heating of the land while light shines from the darkness … it is colorful, even if we can not see it momentarily. It’s time will come. ‘Solstice Bingo under Star-filled Skies’ Watercolor and Ink by Renate on 12” x 16” cold-pressed 300 lb.
