this colorful fantasy painting consists of acrylic, ink, and collage elements created from custom rice paper designs. It is intended as a fresh and tongue in cheek commentary of the summer influx of tourists to the Canadian maritime islands.
I once visited an Island Group called the “Dry Tortugas” which is also a national US park off the coast of Florida and the waters surrounding the island with an Old Brick Fort structure on it looked much like these waters, they were teeming with sharks and other fierce looking Sealife. Some of the House elements here pictured come from impressions formed right in my Studio's neighborhood in Back Bay, New Brunswick, Canada. In the summer there is a lot of tourist traffic on “Grand Manan” Island nearby, reachable by Ferry, and the other, is called “Deer Island”, reachable by free Ferry. So come on up to Canada's Maritime provinces if you want to see these marvels. Original theme was inspired by Swiss artist Ivonne Morrell.
