this painting was inspired by a news article about villagers in India who knitted colorful pajama-like blankets for their Elephant 'rescues' because they wanted to shield them from unusually cold near freezing temperatures. What a wonderful compassionate gesture. When the elephant is so dressed it visually becomes a member of its human family.
